Car Telematics - The Dutch Postal Service - Client Case Study
In 1997 the Postal authority in Holland needed a way to monitor and improve the fuel economy of its fleet as well as the performance of its employees in terms of drivers’ safety and on time delivery.
Careless driving behavior was causing excessive accidents and massive wear and tear of the vehicles of the postal service.
Customer satisfaction was low due to late or un-delivered packages and letters.
The Dutch postal service was seeking a long term solution for the two troubling problems.
The E-DriveTech Solution
E - DT worked with the Dutch Postal Service to create a set of parameters that defined good driver and delivery performance.
After defining these characteristics, a mathematical algorithm was developed to score the performance of each postal worker during each driving shift.
At the end of each day a special report was generated for all drivers which depicted their overall driving and delivery scores.
Along with additional details provided by the drivers regarding the performance versus the individual parameters, we were able to see the full picture and recommend what changes need to be made.
In the first year after implementation, driving, delivery performance and fuel economy were improved significantly and resulted in 12% savings in transportation and maintenance cost.
Improve Fuel Economy - Singapore Public Safety: Client Case Study
In 2001 Singapore contacted E - DT to develop a solution to control its fuel expenses for the country’s 2000 public safety vehicles and boats.
The Singapore fleet was managed across a series of bases located throughout the country.
The Singapore Public Safety Authority wanted to evaluate each of the base’s fuel consumption, improve fuel economy, and improve mileage and patrol effectiveness.
They also needed to access all reporting information via a highly secure internal Intranet on a daily basis.
The E-DriveTech Solution
E - DT initially implemented its Fuel Management system to serve Singapore’s 2000 public safety land and marine fleet.
Special client servers, maintained by Singapore, were set up and configured with E – DT's proprietary Web application software to enable car telematics to transmit daily data downloads of information from all of Singapore’s fleet vehicles.
Full integration between fuel and fleet management systems was needed, including car telematics, information about over – speeding, siren time activation, and accident analyses.
Today E - DT fleet, car telematics and fuel management solutions continue to support Singapore’s public safety fleet of 2500 vehicles.
